2010s
This decade did not get off to a good start as Mary passed away on 3/14 and Roger on 10/11. The first death we expected. The second we did not.
We finally got all the kids through with their studies. Kyle graduated from Redlands in May 2008, Mel from Villanova Nov 2010, and Lance from USC Law School May 2011. We could now focus on the rest of our lives and not the kids.
The only thing that was clear to me was that we no longer needed to live in New Jersey. It never felt like home and the high taxes were killing us. So we began to explore possibilities.
We travelled to Florida Feb 2011 and checked out a few places including the Villages and Naples. It was hard to see how we could ever live in that kind of humidity.
Next up was Tucson AZ. Liz voted thumbs-down because she thought the airport was too small. I guess she must have anticipated going back to work.
Third trip was to Phoenix in July 2011. Winner winner chicken dinner. We fell in love with Verrado at first sight and bought a construction lot on the golf course one day after we saw it. We figured we could endure the hot summers especially with a pool in the backyard.
Welcome to the decade of Arizona.
