The Photo Albums
I started taking photographs when I lived in Belgium in 1970-1971. And I’ve never stopped.
I’ve used all sorts of cameras from as simple as Kodak instamatics, to expensive 35 mm Canons, and everything in between. But the convenience and quality of the photos from my Samsung Galaxy S22 cellphone has won the day. I doubt that I will ever again shoot with a standalone camera.
I used to make scrapbooks, standalone photo albums, and photo collages to hang on our walls. The digital era has changed all that too. Beginning in 2007 I started making digital albums on Facebook and then in 2010 I switched to Google Photos.
The idea of making all these photos accessible via a website is a recent idea. It’s going to take me a while to scan all the old analog photos but it’s not a difficult task. It just takes time and I have a lot of that now that I am approaching 73 y/o.
My goal is to go back to the very beginning in 1952 and post pictures from every year of my life. My mother did a great job taking lots of family photos when I was young and creating our own personal photo albums which I still have on my bookshelf.
So I hope you will enjoy this trip down memory lane with me from Dos Palos to Belgium to Berkeley to the Bay Area to Minnesota to Chicagoland to New Jersey, and finally to Arizona. We’ve moved around a lot and I’ve got it all captured on film.
Carpe Diem.
