2000s

Welcome to the New Millenium. Everyone was freaked out about what would happen when all the digital clocks clicked over to 2000. Well, the world did not come to an end.

But the stock market crashed big time. All the craze about the Internet had created an artificial bubble. All the high-tech flyers like Cisco and Yahoo got crushed. We didn’t have that much money in the market yet so it didn’t really affect us like what would happen in 2008 later in the decade.

Lots of activities with the kids this decade. Golf trips to Myrtle Beach. Coaching Babe Ruth baseball and travel basketball. I started playing golf again at Cherry Valley starting in 2004. We got both boys off to college – Kyle to Redlands in 2003, Lance to Cornell in 2004.

I came down with meniere’s disease in May 2005 and got treated at Univ. of PA Hospital by Dr. Ruckenstein. It was not possible to live with the kind of vertigo I was experiencing, including drop attacks. Thank God Dr. R. was one of the world’s leading experts on how to treat the disease.

Mary came to live with us theoretically for a week in July 2006 while Al and Carolyn were travelling to Europe. Long story short, she stayed for four years until she passed away in March 2010.

Liz stopped working at Charming Shoppes in Jan 2006. Mel and Kyle got married in Jan 2008. I was elected to the CVCC Board in 2009 and helped them get their finances in order. I also started volunteering at SAE Cal Beta and helped them build their alumni database.

Welcome to the decade of CVCC and volunteerism.
